Supplies:
*Linoleum block
*pencil
*Sharpie
*cutting tool
*paper
*Brayer
*print ink
My Process:
1. Pick design 2. Draw onto separate sheet of paper
3. Trace with pencil onto Linoleum block
4. Go over the design with Sharpie
5. Start cutting on the lines with small cutting tool
6. Create "Chatter" (background pattern)
7. Once you are done cutting, roll the printmaking ink on with a Brayer. It should sound tacky.
8. Put the block on the paper like a stamp. Make sure to push down really, really hard!
9. Number each print 1/10, 3/10, 7/10, etc..
10. And... Voila! You have your prints! :)

Confusing, right? That's what I thought, too. Don't worry, I will explain it. For the latest art project, I did printmaking. I started out wanting to make a flower or the initial of my first name, but those were just the start.
After soon realizing that I wanted to try something else, I came up with the idea of using a logo. But what one? I of course thought of the Yankees to do. The only problem was, how was I going to draw it? I looked up step-by-step processes on how to draw this particular logo. I found the photo below...

This photo really helped me draw it. The hardest part for me was cutting it out. It took a very long time to get the perfect cuts on such a complex logo. After tracing the edges, I had to come up with "Chatter". My original idea was to make it look like grass, but I didn't have enough time to do two colors. After tracing and cutting for what seemed to take forever my block looked something like this...
By this time I was ready to start printing! I used a to roll the ink on. The ink should sound tacky as you roll it. I chose a dark purple because of two reasons. One, it is my all time favorite color, and two, it was the closest to navy. Below are what my before block looked like (plus the ink and a Brayer) and my after. Brayer
I am really happy with how it turned out, so here it is!
This was probably one of my most favorite projects! The whole process was very overwhelming at the beginning, but the thing I've learned about is to try to do your best even if it is overwhelming or harder than what you are used to. I got reminded not to judge a book by its cover. It doesn't just apply to people or art projects but many other things.
